Anambra PHCs underfunding worries group

Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) in Anambra State are still grappling with chronic underfunding despite multiple government and partner interventions, the TB Network State Advocacy Team (SAT) has said.

State Programme Officer, Onyekachi Ololo, raised the concern during an engagement with the Ministry of Health’s Planning, Research and Statistics (PRS) Department under the Integrated Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) Project.

He noted that inadequate funding continues to affect service delivery, quality of care, and availability of essential resources.

Ololo called for stronger research, documentation, and data collection—especially on AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria—to support evidence-based planning and improved healthcare outcomes.

State Project Coordinator, Ify Unachukwu, said the CLM approach empowers trained community monitors to track PHC performance, promote accountability, and improve service delivery at the grassroots.
Responding, PRS Director, John Paul Onyekinaso, commended the initiative and assured of collaboration, adding that data-driven insights from PHCs would support better planning, policy adjustments, and future budget allocations.
