The flagship political support structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Anambra State, Ikemba Front, has congratulated its National Coordinator, Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, following the official release by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of the results of the APC House of Representatives primaries conducted in Anambra State on May 16, 2026.

The list released by INEC, containing the names of candidates who emerged victorious in the eleven federal constituencies across the state, confirmed Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu as the APC candidate for the House of Representatives seat for Ogbaru Federal Constituency.

According to a forwarding letter signed by the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in Anambra State, Dr. (Mrs.) Elizabeth Agwu, and the Deputy Director and Head of the Election and Party Monitoring (EPM) Department, Barr. Ayogu Obinna, the candidates listed were duly elected winners of their respective federal constituency primaries. The document has also been uploaded on the INEC portal.

In a joint press statement, the National Secretary of Ikemba Front, Comrade Ikechukwu Ikeobi, and the National Assistant Secretary, Hon. Obi Ibegbunam, said the party’s attention should now shift towards winning elections, expressing confidence that the APC stands a strong chance of securing seats in the National Assembly with candidates such as Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu on its ticket.

“We have to choose between fielding candidates who can win elections for the party and those who merely make up the numbers.

“By presenting candidates like Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu, the APC is sending a strong message that it is serious about winning seats in the forthcoming National Assembly elections,” they stated.

The group also congratulated other APC candidates whose victories were confirmed by INEC, noting that the party had fielded credible, experienced and formidable candidates in most federal constituencies across the state.

However, the group cautioned against allowing the APC’s electoral prospects to be undermined under the guise of “progressives working together,” insisting that genuine political competition remains essential, especially as opposition parties in the state have equally presented candidates for the National Assembly elections.

“Progressives are not working together when opposition parties have fielded candidates against APC candidates in national elections.

The party must remain focused on consolidating its structures and pursuing victory at the polls,” the statement added.

Recall that the APC primary election for Ogbaru Federal Constituency was contested between Sir Arinzechukwu Awogu and Mrs. Nkechi Isamade. Awogu, a former Chairman of Ogbaru Local Government Area, secured a landslide victory with 688 votes, while Isamade polled 41 votes.

The confirmation of Awogu’s candidature by INEC is expected to further energize APC supporters in Ogbaru and strengthen the party’s preparations ahead of the National Assembly elections.
