Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo, has inaugurated the eighth Governing Council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), charging members to drive institutional reforms and restore academic excellence.

Speaking during the inauguration in Awka, Soludo described the appointment as a critical responsibility, urging the council to serve with integrity, passion, and commitment to future generations.

The governor expressed concern over challenges facing the university, including issues surrounding recent recruitment processes, and emphasized the need for transparency and accountability.

Soludo expressed confidence in the new council led by Prof. Peter Onwualu as Chairman and Pro-Chancellor, saying the team possesses the expertise needed to reposition the institution for greater success.

Responding, Prof. Onwualu pledged that the council would work to transform COOU into one of Nigeria’s leading state universities, stressing the need to build strong institutions capable of delivering quality education.

The council comprises distinguished academics, professionals, and university administrators, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha and other principal officers of the institution.
