UNIZIK signs MoU with Kigali Varsity to boost research, student exchange

Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Kigali Independent University (ULK), Rwanda, to strengthen collaboration in teaching, research, innovation and academic development.


The agreement, signed virtually on July 15, 2026, will promote cooperation in STEM, Education, Humanities, Management and the Social Sciences through joint research, conferences, curriculum development and academic exchanges.


The partnership also provides for staff and student exchange programmes, joint supervision of postgraduate research, professional training and the sharing of scholarly publications and scientific information.


Speaking during the virtual signing ceremony, UNIZIK Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, described the partnership as a major step towards expanding knowledge, research and academic collaboration across Africa.


The five-year agreement, renewable by mutual consent, forms part of UNIZIK’s internationalisation agenda aimed at enhancing global partnerships and academic mobility for staff and students.
