The Anambra State Government has warned residents and communities against constructing speed bumps on public roads without official approval.
Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Law Mefor, said the directive became necessary due to the indiscriminate installation of speed bumps, which has negatively affected road safety and infrastructure.
He said only speed bumps approved by the government and built to the design specified by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure would be permitted.
Mefor added that speed bumps would only be allowed in critical locations such as schools, markets, churches, and other approved areas, warning that unauthorized construction is now a punishable offence.
He advised residents seeking clarification to contact the Office of the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure.
