Donald Trump has warned that the United States could “take out” Iran in “one night” if it fails to reach a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking at the White House, Trump said negotiations were ongoing but uncertain ahead of his Tuesday deadline for restoring energy flow through the vital global oil route.
Iran has rejected calls for a temporary ceasefire, insisting on a permanent end to hostilities and sanctions relief. Despite tensions, Trump said he believes Iranian leaders are negotiating in “good faith.”
He warned that failure to comply could lead to strikes on Iran’s infrastructure, including power and transport systems. However, legal experts caution such actions could violate international law.
Mediation efforts by Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt continue, though communication challenges and ongoing conflict complicate talks.
