2027: Tinubu’s infrastructure projects will earn APC South-East votes, Arodiogbu declares

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman for the South-East, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has declared that the region will reciprocate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s infrastructure investments with massive electoral support for his re-election in 2027.

Arodiogbu said the President’s commitment to addressing long-standing infrastructure deficits in the South-East had strengthened the region’s resolve to support his administration for another term.

His declaration comes as the APC intensifies preparations for its 2027 presidential campaign, with the party’s Presidential Campaign Council scheduled to hold its inaugural meeting on October 14, 2026, at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja.

The party’s official campaign flag-off is scheduled for October 24 in Kaduna State, after which the campaign will move across the country, including key stops in the South-East.

Speaking against the backdrop of the party’s mobilisation drive, Arodiogbu maintained that the South-East was already benefiting from President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda through strategic federal investments aimed at closing critical infrastructure gaps.

He listed major road dualisation projects, the revival of the Eastern rail corridor, airport upgrades and the establishment of the South-East Development Commission among the interventions demonstrating the administration’s commitment to the region.

According to him, the projects represent a significant shift from the perceived marginalisation of the South-East and reflect the President’s commitment to inclusive governance.

“The South-East declares its unalloyed, total and unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as our sole and undisputed presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections,” Arodiogbu stated in a communiqué issued after a stakeholders’ meeting of South-East APC leaders.

The communiqué added: “We commend the significant strides recorded under his administration, especially the focused efforts to bridge long-standing infrastructural gaps in the South-East, the elevation of our sons and daughters to key national positions, and his demonstrated commitment to inclusive governance.”

The APC chieftain stressed that the region’s support was anchored on the principle of political reciprocity, arguing that the Federal Government’s infrastructure investments and appointments had created a basis for stronger political cooperation between the South-East and the centre.

He expressed optimism that the region would translate its appreciation of the administration’s interventions into substantial votes for Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 general elections.

South-East APC leaders, including Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah and Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru, have also highlighted ongoing federal infrastructure projects as important factors in strengthening the region’s relationship with the Federal Government.

Among the projects cited are the dualisation of the Enugu-Abakaliki Road, the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway and the Calabar-Ebonyi-Benue Trans-Saharan Superhighway, alongside other major road corridors.

As the campaign flag-off draws closer, Arodiogbu called on APC structures, traditional institutions, women, youths and professional groups across Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo states to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of the President.

He expressed confidence that the infrastructure projects and other federal interventions in the region would strengthen the APC’s electoral prospects and translate into a decisive victory for Tinubu in 2027.
