By Polycarp Ifeanyi
Today, October 6, you would have been 54.
But you are no longer here. Lucky Chinedu Godwin Adimike, you were gruesomely murdered in your Abuja residence, silenced in a most painful and shocking manner.
Yet, your goodness was never murdered.
Today, we remember you not merely as a man whose life was tragically cut short, but as one whose life was profoundly spent in the service of God and humanity.
You were a business mogul with a humble soul, a devout servant of God and a philanthropist whose wealth found meaning in lifting others.
To you, wealth meant little unless it could make a difference in someone else’s life. And make a difference you did.
You were a true son of the Church. Quietly, without seeking applause, you sponsored countless Church projects and stood firmly as a pillar of the Faithspiration Initiative, the charity founded by your brother, Rev. Fr. Dr. George Adimike.
Your love for the priesthood was profound. You were a benefactor of Blessed Tansi Major Seminary, Onitsha, and All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha. You trained seminarians and invested in the future of the Church.
In Awka-Etiti, your homeland, your name is written in love.
You built the Father’s House at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. You built the Infant Jesus Grotto. You revived the Block Rosary Crusade and rekindled Marian devotion. You also renovated the Awka-Etiti Town Hall.
Your heart beat for the people.
You provided scholarships for indigent children and gave seed capital to several hundred youths. You empowered both young people and adults, restoring hope to families who had almost given up on educating their children.
You had a special place in your heart for women and children. You paid hospital bills and reportedly covered the full cost of deliveries at Fatima Hospital, Awka-Etiti, including Caesarean sections. You paid antenatal bills, distributed palliatives regularly and supported hundreds of families, often without publicity.
Friends remember you as a bridge to the poor, a father to the fatherless and a man who made wealth but was never possessed by it.
A true Christian in word and deed.
Today, as we mark your posthumous 54th birthday, we do not mourn as those without hope. We celebrate a life of service and a legacy that death cannot erase.
As one tribute poignantly captured it: “Though you were murdered, your goodness was never murdered. Though you are gone, your charity lives on.”
Continue to rest in the bosom of the Lord, dear Lucky.
Your memory lives on.
Your charity lives on.
Adieu, Lucky Chinedu Godwin Adimike.
Forever in our hearts.
