The Anambra State Executive Council has approved new measures to address erosion, student housing shortages and other critical infrastructure needs across the state.
Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, said the approvals were made during the fifth State Executive Council meeting held at the Light House, Awka.
According to him, the government also approved N551.9 million for general external works on the permanent building of the Solution Innovation District (SID) in Awka.
Mefor said the decisions align with the Soludo administration’s “Solution 2.0” agenda to promote sustainable development, improve public service delivery and strengthen governance.
The council also approved the immediate activation of the Soludozie Anambra Programme, a Public-Private-Community Partnership initiative that will encourage individuals and communities to support the provision of roads, schools and healthcare facilities across the state’s 179 communities.
To address the growing student housing deficit, the government will partner private investors to build affordable hostels in tertiary institutions under a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model.
The council further approved measures to strengthen the state’s Grievance Redress Mechanism, making it easier for residents to report complaints relating to government services and human rights, while also directing increased public awareness of the Small Claims Courts to improve access to justice.
