The Vision Bearer of the Alaigbo Sunrise Crusade, Apostle Ofodile Ikenna Nzimiro, has explained why Nnewi was chosen as the launching ground for the spiritual programme, describing the industrial town as a community carrying the covenant of a firstborn.
Speaking with multiple award-winning journalist, Don Peter Okoro, at his hotel suite in Nnewi, Apostle Nzimiro, who is also the Presiding Apostle of East Mandate Global Ministry, said the crusade was divinely inspired and aimed at reconciling Alaigbo and its people with God.
He explained that the Alaigbo Sunrise Prayer Crusade was established to redeem the land spiritually and restore its people to what he described as God’s original purpose.
According to him, “East Mandate Global is the name of the ministry, and under it is the Alaigbo Sunrise Prayer Crusade, which is a God-commanded crusade. It is centred on reconciling Alaigbo as a geographical location to God and, at the same time, reconciling Alaigbo and her sons and daughters back to God.
“This can only take place through what the Bible calls redeeming the land and covenanting the land. When you do that, it brings God’s attention back to the land and brings changes.
“Of course, we know that life is more spiritual than natural, and the spirit that a land yields to determines the people’s mannerisms. So, God sent us to reconcile and redeem the land so that the land and its people can be realigned with His original purpose.”
On why Nnewi was specifically selected, the cleric said the decision was based on divine instruction, adding that the town occupies a significant spiritual position in Alaigbo.
He stated: “The peculiar thing about us as Watchmen is that most of what we do outside discipleship is what God commands. My answer is that we are in Nnewi because God commanded us to come here.
“We came with a vision and an understanding. One of the things God spoke to me about Nnewi is that Nnewi is like a first son. Nnewi is carrying the covenant of a firstborn. And you know that when it is well with the firstborn, it will be well with the whole family.
“So, we are here in Nnewi to address Nnewi as a people, but beyond Nnewi, to address Igboland and, very importantly, Nigeria as a nation, where the Igbo people must be given their dues and their rights.
“There is no place better suited for us to speak on matters like these than Nnewi.”
Apostle Nzimiro further recalled the contributions of the late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, who hailed from Nnewi, in the struggle for the recognition and rights of the Igbo people in Nigeria.
He said Ojukwu’s historical connection to Nnewi further underscored the significance of the town as the starting point for addressing issues affecting Alaigbo and the country.
“The Lord sent us to address many issues here, including issues that have lingered for years and affected Nigeria as a nation. They are very complicated issues, but by God’s grace, we will take them bit by bit,” he added.
Watch out for Part Two.
