The suspects were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Touting Squad Agency (SASA) during a coordinated operation in the commercial city.
According to the agency’s spokesperson, Karen James, investigations revealed the suspects were involved in illegal collection of levies without government authorization.
They were arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Onitsha North LGA and remanded in a correctional facility pending further hearing.
The court granted bail with conditions, including a ₦200,000 bond, ₦300,000 fine, and a Level 17 civil servant as surety. The case was adjourned to July 1, 2026.
