Chief Benjamin Obi, a stalwart of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), has called on Gov Charles Soludo to immediately sack a list of serving Commissioners.
Chief Obi who is a cousin to the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi described the listed Commissioners as “non-performing Commissioners.”
The man popularly known as ‘Igwe APGA'(interpreted as APGA’ monarch)said that Governor Soludo needs to lay off no fewer than eighty percent of his serving Commissioners and Advisers and bring on board fresh hands.
Similarly, Obi recommended that the entire twenty one incumbent Council Chairmen and councilors in the State need to be replaced in the build up to the August 29, 2026 Council election in the State.
According to him, the party in the State do not lack human capacity for any assignment at any time, noting that there were too many qualified hands on the queue.
Chief Obi said that the sack of non-performing Commissioners, Council Chairmen and Councillors who have always stated that they were not getting anything from the position they occupy would enhance productivity as new faces would bring new ideas and zeal to the Solution Government.
“This in turn will enhance the reward system of the party. So many Mayors failed abysmally and allowing them to continue is to enthrone mediocrity, “he added.
High Chief Obi also explained the need for the LGAs election aspirants screening panels in all local government areas, to be trained and given appropriate guidelines to make sure that aspiring Council Chairmen and Councillors are true APGA faithful and are qualified without questionable certificates.
Igwe APGA who tasked Governor Soludo, APGA National Chairman and Anambra State Chairman as well as the Special Adviser to Governor Soludo on Political Matters, Dr Alex Obiogbolu to take proper note of his submission asserted that government is all about the enthronement of meritocracy not mediocrity.
