Special Adviser to Mr President on Health Matters, Dr Salma Ibrahim Anas has commended Nnewi traditional institution for being supportive to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH), Nnewi, contributing to its growth and expansion.

Dr Anas made the commendation on Wednesday June 11, 2025 when she paid a courtesy call to Igwe Nnewi, His Royal Highness Igwe K.O.N Orizu lll as part of the activities to mark her two-day facility tour of the health institution.
Dr Anas was led to the Igwe’s palace by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the NAUTH, Prof Joseph Ugboaja and his management team.
Dr Anas had paid her maiden visit to the NAUTH where she expressed surprise at the level of transformation of the permanent site of the health institution.
Speaking at the Igwe’s palace, Dr Anas extended President Bola Tinubu’s felicitation to Igwe and his cabinet members who gave her and the entourage a warm reception.
Earlier, Prof Ugboaja had introduced Dr Anas and her entourage to Igwe Nnewi, explaining their mission to the Igwe.
She expressed gratitude to God for Igwe’s longevity and wisdom, appreciating the Igwe for what she described as his enormous support to the progress of the NAUTH, especially for building Information and Communication Technology (ICT) center for the information needs of the hospital.
Dr Anas told the monarch that NAUTH under the watch of Prof Ugboaja, with community and other partnerships is qualified to be the best health institution in Nigeria.
She received the Igwe’s blessings and prayed in return that God would bless the monarch with good health and more wisdom.
She expressed satisfaction with the level of development in the institution after a facility tour of the permanent site.
She said Prof Ugboaja had demonstrated great capacity, transparency and accountability in running the hospital. She said they had seen things for themselves the great transformation of NAUTH’s perm site.
Dr Anas added that through partnerships, the health institution would harness all the resources around them and ensure they provide quality healthcare services to Nigerians.
She commended Prof Ugboaja and his management team for their relentless efforts to ensure positive results and rapid development of the NAUTH permanent site.
Dr Anas said they had also seen the expansion of basic healthcare funding which was promised by Mr President, Ahmed Tinubu to vulnerable groups, including women and children.
“We saw the mother and child center, very big centers that provide services to women. We have been opportuned to meet women that have benefitted from the free maternal and child services, that have received free antenatal clinics, free delivery and free cesarean section.
“These are truly clear demonstration and result of Mr President’s administration, “she said.
Dr Anas noted that one huge gap she noticed was human resources gap,which she promised to advocate and support them to have additional employment of human resources for health.
She also promised to advocate for additional funding for the facility.
Dr Anas also paid a courtesy visit to the CEO Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM), Chief Innocent Chukwuma and was taken around the factory.
In her reaction, Dr Anas commended Chief Chukwuma for creating jobs for thousands of Nigerians and non Nigerians in his factory.
She expressed her appreciation to Chief Chukwuma for reducing unemployment in the country, with the assurance of Mr President’s commitment to patronize locally-made vehicles.
She further disclosed that Mr President promised to buy 150 cars from Innoson.
Dr Anas pleaded with Executive Governors, Senators, and others to come and buy vehicles from Innoson, adding that Innoson’s products remained their own.
“Patronizing him, we are promoting our country locally- made vehicles and also promoting transportation. Without transportation, we cannot access, “she appealed.
Dr Anas further promised to go in real business with Innoson vehicle to save lives by procuring ambulances from him.
She added that this is a renewed hope the country is looking for.
