The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the release on bail of the State Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, Mr Moyowa Adejoorin, who was arrested following a shooting incident at an All Progressives Congress (APC) rally in Ilesa.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday, reportedly left four persons injured, including a teenager identified as Tobi Ilesanmi.
The police spokesperson, DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, said Adejoorin was arrested after the scene was cordoned off by security personnel.
According to him, the commissioner’s vehicle was stopped at the scene alongside an Amotekun personnel who was allegedly involved in the shooting.
Ojelabi said police recovered exhibits from the scene, including expended cartridges and Amotekun personnel caps.
He said Adejoorin was taken to the command for questioning as part of the investigation into the incident.
However, a video circulated on social media on Sunday showing the commissioner leaving the police command.
Confirming his release, Ojelabi told Vanguard that Adejoorin had been released on bail but said he was yet to obtain an update on the Amotekun personnel arrested alongside him.
“It is true that the commissioner has been released on bail today, but I am yet to clear the situation with the Amotekun personnel arrested with him,” he said.
The police investigation into the shooting incident is ongoing.
