Stakeholders in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, have commended the Area Commander of Onitsha Area Command, ACP Temitope Fasugba, and the Divisional Police Officer of Okpoko Police Station, SP Kenechi Austine Okafor, for efforts to improve security in the area.
The commendation came during the maiden visit of the Area Commander to Okpoko Police Station.
President General of Ogbaru Main Market, Chief Ndubisi Ochiogu, praised the policing strategies adopted by the officers, noting that crime and public unrest have reduced in Okpoko.
Community stakeholder, Mr. Chukwuma Emmanuel Akika, described the officers as dedicated and action-oriented, urging them to sustain peace and security in the area.
Chief Security Officer of Agunechemba in Okpoko, Dr. Solomon Ibezim, also commended the collaboration between police officers and local security operatives, saying the partnership has strengthened crime control.
President General of Okpoko community, Chief Charles Ezeokafor Nwatawugwu, assured the police of continued support through intelligence sharing to help fight crime.
Earlier, the DPO identified challenges in the area, including traffic obstruction by illegal revenue agents, drug peddling, cultism and other crimes.
He also appealed for more police personnel to strengthen operations.
Responding, ACP Fasugba commended the DPO for his commitment to crime control and stressed the importance of collaboration between the police and local vigilante groups to improve security.
