The X-FIT Table Tennis Team on Saturday hosted its in-house championship at Oma Event Centre, Awka, with 30 players competing in various categories aimed at promoting fitness, friendship and sportsmanship.
The tournament, tagged “All X-FIT Faithful Table Tennis Championship,” was sponsored by Mr. Nnanna Nzewi, popularly known as Otabili Onye Nwanne Ya, in collaboration with X-FIT Aerobics and Fitness Management.
Speaking at the event, Anambra State Table Tennis Coach and X-FIT coach, Mr. Ibeh Reginald Ogonna, commended the sponsor for his continued support and urged participants to uphold sportsmanship throughout the competition.
Dignitaries at the event included X-FIT Gym and Aerobics Club CEO, Chief Joseph Onwuakpa; CEO of Cosmila Hotels and Suites, Mr. Obinna Michael; former Anambra State lawmaker, Hon. Sunny Ozobialu; and other table tennis stakeholders.
Chairman of the club, Hon. Ozobialu, praised Nzewi for sponsoring the tournament and encouraged members to prepare for future competitions.
Addressing participants, Nzewi said table tennis provides a platform for fostering friendship, unity and healthy living. He also called on individuals and organizations to support sports development in the state.
At the end of the competition, Ibrahim emerged champion in one category, while Frank won the X-FIT Junior Group. Peculiar claimed the Female Category title after defeating Suker.
The highlight of the tournament saw Joseph Parker, popularly known as Joe Armani, defeat Chidi Okoronkwo to emerge overall champion of the X-FIT Main Group.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to promoting fitness, friendship and sporting excellence through table tennis.
