The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is facing a major internal crisis as the Kwankwasiyya movement led by Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso reportedly threatens to leave the party over alleged violations of a power-sharing agreement.
The dispute arose after the replacement of some candidates earlier submitted by the Kwankwasiyya bloc. Party officials said the changes were made to reflect a 60-40 arrangement for sharing elective positions and party offices between the group and the existing NDC structure.
A document signed by Kano State NDC Chairman, Hussaini Isah Mairiga, and copied to NDC leader Seriake Dickson, confirmed the adjustments.
The development has sparked fresh tensions within the opposition coalition, raising concerns about party unity ahead of future elections.
