The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Anambra State Command, has arrested two suspects over alleged illegal dealings in petroleum products and impounded a truck conveying about 4,000 litres of suspected adulterated Automotive Gas Oil (AGO).
State Commandant Maku Olatunde said the suspects were arrested during an intelligence-led operation along Boromeu Road, Onitsha, after they allegedly failed to produce the required licences and documents for transporting petroleum products.
According to him, preliminary investigations linked the suspects to a syndicate involved in the distribution of suspected adulterated petroleum products, an offence punishable under the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
Olatunde said investigations are ongoing to identify other members of the syndicate and assured that anyone found culpable would be prosecuted.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to protecting critical infrastructure and combating economic sabotage, while urging residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies.
