Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has praised Idemili South Local Government Area for promoting healthy living, unity, and community development through sports.
Speaking at the flag-off of the Healthy Living Sports Competition sponsored by the council chairman, Iyom Amaka Obi, Soludo described the initiative as a model that other communities should emulate.
She said the programme aligns with Anambra State’s vision of building healthier and more productive communities, noting that sports promote discipline, teamwork, resilience, and peaceful coexistence, especially among young people.
The governor’s wife also commended Obi, the council’s Healthy Living Team, and other stakeholders for organizing the event, adding that the large turnout reflected the community’s commitment to healthy living.
Earlier, Obi said the competition was designed to encourage physical fitness, recreation, social interaction, and stronger community bonds among residents.
