New AIG Zone 13, Anambra CP put heads together over cross-border security challenges in Anambra, Enugu States

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 13 Ukpo, Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, Mr Peter Oladipo has held a closed door meeting with the State Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu with a more robust focus on cross-border security initiative.

Speaking when the State Commissioner of Police visited him at the Zone 13 Ukpo, yesterday, he said the police as the leading security agency would collaborate with sister security.agencies to reduce crime and criminality in the zone.

The new Zone 13 helmsman reiterated a lasting commitment to the duty of ensuring that the lives and property of the people of the Zone are protected and that the duty would be discharged in line with international best practices of policing and human rights laws adherence.

He said that he would personally continue with the collaboration with contiguous states.

AIG Oladipo noted that the Zonal Command was created for a administrative convenience and harmonization of Anambra and Enugu commands.

He assured of his determination to combat issues of kidnappings, armed robbery, ritual killing and other social vices.

Oladipo observed that less than ten percent of the criminal elements in the Zone are terrorising the masses and called for deliberate efforts of the people to shun violence.

He said that he would sustain and improve on existing security architecture in place as directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbotokun.

Oladipo explained that he would work in line with the vision and mission of the Nigeria Police Force which he noted is to create a police-friendly organization, community engagement and rule of law.

Oladipo said that the police, empowered to prevent crimes and ensure safety, would leave no stone unturned in providing adequate security within the zone.

He assured that the Zone would focus on more pro-active measures of preventing crimes before they happen.

The AIG sought for cooperation of the people of the zone in terms of information gathering and intelligence sharing.

Oladipo assumes duty at the Zonal Headquarters Ukpo as the 8th substantive AIG of Police at the Zone 13 Police Headquarters, Ukpo, Ukpo-Dunukofia LGA, in Anambra State.

A distinguished law enforcement officer, scholar, and international peacekeeper, the AIG was born on the 24th of April, 1966.

He is a graduate of Philosophy from Ogun State University (now Olabisi Onabanjo University) in 1986, a Master’s degree holder from the prestigious University of Lagos in 1989 and has earned an LLB (Hons) from the National Open University in 2017

In 1992 he enlisted as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and underwent rigorous training at the esteemed Police Academy then in Kaduna and later has served in numerous pivotal capacities.

An international officer of repute, he has served the global community in United Nations peacekeeping missions across Kosovo (UNMIK), Sudan (UNMIS), and Darfur (UNMID).

In his career, he has undertaken a series of professional courses that have equipped him with a robust skill set.
. He was later appointed the Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Command.

Before his recent deployment as the AIG Zone 13 Ukpo – Dunukofia, Anambara state, he was the AIG Counter Terrorism Unit, FHQ, Abuja.
