The President General of Oba Patriotic Union (OPU), Chief Anthony Ejiofor, has commended the Anambra State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barr. Chijioke Ojukwu, for resolving a contentious N2.5 million land development levy dispute that threatened peace in Oba community, Idemili South Local Government Area.

The dispute involved Mr. Nwakanwa and Akamili Okuzu Village, Oba, over the purchase of some plots of land and an alleged demand for N2.5 million as development levy from the petitioner.

Speaking with journalists in Awka on Wednesday, November 4, shortly after a peace meeting convened by the commissioner, Ejiofor said the intervention had produced a satisfactory outcome, with all parties leaving the meeting happy.

He praised Ojukwu for his wisdom, fairness and intelligent handling of the dispute, describing him as a capable commissioner and a worthy member of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s Solution Team.

“What I saw today is different and very wonderful, the way and manner he approached the issue,” Ejiofor said.

“Everybody is going home smiling and in good mind, especially the petitioner. He is a gentleman to the core. I am so pleased to meet him. If things are done this way, we will have a better society,” he added.

The OPU President General expressed the appreciation of the Oba community to the commissioner, noting that his intervention had helped restore confidence, promote justice and prevent the dispute from escalating.
