Knights of St. Mulumba confer fourth-degree honours on new members


— Focus on God and moral responsibility, priest urges Knight members

The Onitsha Metropolitan Council of the Knights of St. Mulumba, Nigeria, has elevated several of its members to the Fourth Degree ,the highest rank within the Catholic order during an investiture ceremony held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at St. James Catholic Church , Otolo, Nnewi.

The event began with a Eucharistic celebration officiated by the council’s chaplain, Rev. Fr. Pascal Okeke.

In his homily, Fr. Okeke urged members to remain focused on God, emphasizing that human efforts are futile without divine guidance. He called on the new inductees to see their elevation as a call to higher moral responsibility and service and prayed for the wisdom they would need to fulfill their roles within the Order and the Church.

Among those conferred with the Fourth Degree were ;Sir Marcel N. Okoli, Sir Obiudu Ikechukwu, Sir Ndianaefo Nkemefuna and several others, who were recognized for their dedication, discipline and commitment to the Order’s ideals.

Addressing the congregation, the Supreme Knight of the Order in Nigeria, Sir Dr. Charles Mbelede, described the investiture as a significant milestone and a reward for character, training and spiritual growth.

“Today’s investiture represents the culmination of a spiritual and moral journey. It is the highest honour within our Order, given to those who have proven themselves worthy in both character and training,” Mbelede said.

He commended the support and commitment of members in ensuring the success of the occasion and urged the newly elevated knights and ladies to uphold the Order’s values of integrity, charity and service to humanity.

In separate remarks, some of the honourees including ;Sir Marcel Okoli, Sir Obiudu Ikechukwu and Sir Ndianaefo Nkemefuna , expressed gratitude to God for the elevation. They described the honour as a divine mandate to serve and prayed for the grace to carry out their duties with humility and excellence.

Founded in 1953, the Knights of St. Mulumba is a Catholic fraternal society committed to spiritual development, charitable service and the promotion of Christian values in both public and private life.
