An industrialist, Chief Jonathan Nzekwe, has urged the Federal Government to establish an Essential Commodity Board to help control rising food prices and ease hardship among Nigerians.

Speaking in Awka, Nzekwe expressed concern over increasing hunger and called for people-focused economic policies. He commended the recent reduction in import duties on items such as rice and drugs, noting it could improve living standards.

The IPMAN member also criticized the high cost of petrol despite Nigeria’s status as a major oil producer, blaming poor policies for the surge. He urged the government to stabilize fuel prices, stressing their widespread impact on the economy.
