I model Louis Carter International Vocational School after Carnegie Melon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania US, says Nnewi-born billionaire-philanthropist, Sir Onwugbenu

An Nnewi-born billionaire and a philanthropist, Sir Louis Carter Onwugbenu (Okpataozuora) has achieved another milestone as he on April 25, 2025, laid the foundation stone for Louis Carter International Vocational School Nnewi, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anamabra State.

Structures in the site include Fathers’ House; Chapel for the School; Foundation’s Secretariat; Administrative and Classroom Blocks, among many other features.

The foundation laying ceremony officiated by His Lordship, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye, Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese was fully attended by members of Nnewi business community and dignitaries from far and near.

Some of the dignitaries were Catholic Priests of various official designations; the YPP aspirant for the forthcoming Anambra South Senatorial by-election, Prince Samben Nwosu; the CEO, Organizer Oil and Gas, Hon Innocent Okoli; Sir Arthur Ngwugbe; Sir Joseph Onyejepu  (Joe White ); Lady Nwangwu; Sir Tony Nwangwu; Sir Emeka Obinwa; Sir Ndubuisi Okoli, among  others. 

In a Mass to mark the event, Bishop Okoye charged Christians to live a life of witness and be committed to the things of the Church to propagate the work of God. 

He recalled that the dream of the project that became a reality started in 2013. He said God had used Sir Onwugbenu to bring it to actualization.

Bishop Okoye advised Christians to continue to embark on projects that  could promote the work of God and for the benefits of humanity. 

He expressed gratitude to Sir Onwugbenu, the President of the Foundation for his large heart and spirit of giving back to society and promotion of missionary work.

He assured Sir Onwugbenu that as a Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese the dream of Louis Carter Education Foundation would never die.

“Even if I pass on, I will make sure that Sir Louis Izuchukwu Onwugbenu will be on record, I assure  you, “Bishop Okoye added. 

Chief Louis Onwugbenu in his remark said the Louis Carter Education Foundation is an adaptation of the Carnegie Melon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where his first son, Emeka Onwugbenu attended.

The University, founded by Andrew Carnegie in 1900, is today, among the top Universities in the United States.

Sir Onwugbenu also said that everything  happening in his life remained a miracle. 

He further disclosed that he has been doing charity all his life to appreciate God and give back to society.

Sir Onwugbenu disclosed  that his objective is to make the Foundation one of the best in Nigeria and promised to complete the structures in no distant time.

“Since it happened at St Louis Catholic Church, Uruagu, Nnewi where there is no space, the miracle will still happen here because we have enough land for the structures I have in mind, “he assured. 

Sir Onwugbenu appreciated the Catholic Bishop, Most Rev Okoye, who according to him has been supportive in making the project a reality. He prayed that God would continue to keep him strong for the work He assigned him to do for the Church and humanity  

Highlights of the occasion included foundation stone laying ceremony by the benefactor, Sir Onwugbenu and tour of the structures.
