Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has urged corps members posted to the state to remain committed to the oath they took and uphold integrity throughout their service year.

Soludo gave the charge during the opening of the 2026 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 Orientation Course and swearing-in ceremony at the Nnamdi Azikiwe NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umuawulu/Mbaukwu, Awka South Local Government Area.

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Patrick Aghamba, the governor described the oath as a solemn commitment that should guide the corps members’ conduct, particularly when faced with difficult situations or pressure to compromise their duties.

He urged them to respect constituted authority, obey NYSC rules, respect their colleagues and host communities, and conduct themselves as worthy ambassadors of their families and Nigeria.

Soludo also described the corps members as partners in Anambra’s development, urging them to respect the culture and traditions of their host communities while contributing their knowledge and skills.

He advised them to remain security-conscious, avoid unnecessary risks and report security concerns through appropriate channels.

The governor said the state government would continue to support initiatives aimed at improving the welfare, safety and productivity of corps members serving in Anambra.

He challenged them to see the service year as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society, rather than focusing only on what they could gain from Nigeria.

Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Pauline Ojisua, disclosed that 1,620 corps members, comprising 682 males and 938 females, were registered for the orientation exercise.

Ojisua commended their enthusiasm for camp activities and appreciated the state government for its support, while appealing for further interventions from the state and local governments, particularly in infrastructure and welfare facilities.
