Over 500 youths, women and community leaders in Ojoto, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, have received training in healthcare, safety and basic lifesaving skills.
The five-day programme, organised by the Ojoto Rising Star Charity Foundation, was themed “Health, Safety & Lifesaving Skills”, with the message: Learn to Save a Life, Learn to Protect Yourself, Learn to Care for Others.
Speaking during the programme, the sponsor, Dr Emeka Cyprian Uzoh, said the foundation plans to extend the initiative to other communities across the state in next year’s edition.
Uzoh said the training was designed to equip ordinary people with practical knowledge to respond to emergencies, administer basic first aid and prevent avoidable harm.
According to him, the sessions covered emergency awareness, choking and poisoning prevention, home and community safety, personal hygiene, healthy living and compassion.
He said the initiative was aimed at building a culture of preparedness and responsibility, stressing that knowledge and timely action could help save lives during emergencies.
Community leaders commended the foundation for investing in people, while beneficiaries described the training as practical and useful.
