Former Nnewi South Local Government Area Chairman (name withheld) on Saturday escaped the evil plan of men of the underworld as he was returning from his Ukpor hometown.
Narrating his ordeal to our Correspondent, the victim said someone he knows gave him a lift from Ukpor to Nnewi Traffic Light Junction and dropped him there since the man was going towards Ekeamobi axis while the victim was to take Owerri Road axis to locate his residence inside Okpunoegbu area.
He said he flagged down a tricycle (Keke) and asked the rider whether he would drop him along the Owerri Road towards Nnewi Roundabout to enable him stop somewhere to branch off to his home at Okpunoegbu.
“When I embarked the Keke there was only a woman at the back seat with a nose mask. The Keke rider also wore a mask, who suddenly veered towards another road and it was already 7:00pm.
“When I complained that it was not the road we agreed, he said he wanted to drop the woman at the back seat. Immediately, the woman brought out a small bottle that looked like perfume and asked whether I would like to buy flagrant perfume from her.
“Before I could respond, she had started spraying it on me claiming that it was for me to inhale the flagrant smell to assess the quality. I told her I was not interested and I started becoming dizzy instantly. I had to shout at the Keke rider to drop me or face my anger. He quickly dropped me and zoomed off without saying a word again.
“When I later got Okada to take me home the spray I inhaled in the Keke weakened me but because I didn’t inhale it in quantum I managed to get home, “the victim narrated.
He said he was surprised that despite the hunt for the criminal elements by the newly launched Agunechemba and Operation Udo Ga Achi that some criminals still have the gut to engage in their evil activities.
