Nigerian human rights lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has called on the government to decisively confront and prosecute those responsible for the country’s worsening insecurity.

In a statement, the counsel to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) criticized what he described as a misleading narrative that blames the group for ongoing violence. He argued that such claims divert attention from more dangerous actors, including terrorists and armed groups operating across northern regions.

Ejiofor explained that continued misdirection and “selective outrage” have hindered efforts to tackle insecurity, urging authorities and citizens to confront the truth and hold perpetrators accountable.

He maintained that only honesty, accountability, and decisive action can restore peace and stability.
