AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) Nigeria has called on World Health Organization member states to urgently finalize a binding Pathogen Access and Benefit-Sharing (PABS) Annex to complete the WHO Pandemic Agreement.
The group said the annex is critical for ensuring fair sharing of vaccines, treatments, and other health tools, warning that without it, the agreement cannot move forward.
Ahead of key talks in Geneva, AHF noted that the COVID-19 pandemic exposed deep inequalities, with many poorer countries denied timely access to lifesaving resources.
It urged countries to adopt enforceable rules on benefit-sharing, transparency, and technology transfer, while rejecting weak or fragmented systems that could undermine equity.
AHF stressed that a strong agreement would ensure fairness in future global health emergencies.
“The world cannot afford another failure,” the group warned.
