Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has called on families and communities to create safe and supportive environments where men can openly express their emotions and seek help when facing challenges.
In a message marking Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, Soludo encouraged men to stop carrying their burdens in silence or viewing emotional struggles as a sign of weakness.
She noted that many men have been conditioned to suppress their feelings and endure difficulties alone, often at the expense of their mental well-being.
According to her, true strength lies not only in resilience but also in the courage to speak up, seek support, and prioritize mental and emotional health.
She emphasized the need for greater awareness of men’s mental health issues, urging society to foster a culture where men feel comfortable discussing their struggles without fear of judgment or stigma.
Soludo further stressed that mental health is a vital component of overall well-being and deserves the same attention as physical health.
She urged men to take time to rest, connect with loved ones, and seek professional or social support whenever necessary, assuring them that their well-being matters to their families and communities.
The governor’s wife also reaffirmed the importance of collective efforts in promoting healthier families and stronger communities through improved mental health support for men.
