Federal Polytechnic Oko has recorded a major academic breakthrough following the approval of its affiliation request by Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, to run Bachelor’s Degree programmes in selected disciplines.
The approval was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions after a successful evaluation process by the university. The affiliation proposal, initiated by the Polytechnic’s Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, received the approval of the UNIZIK Senate after meeting the required academic and regulatory standards.
Under the arrangement, Federal Polytechnic Oko will offer Bachelor’s Degree programmes in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and Microbiology.
Speaking on the development, Dr. Awuzie described the approval as a significant milestone in the institution’s drive to expand educational opportunities and strengthen academic excellence. She said the partnership would provide more pathways for students seeking quality university education while enhancing the Polytechnic’s reputation as a centre for technological and professional learning.
The degree programmes are expected to commence after the completion of the remaining regulatory and administrative processes.
