Appreciate President Tinubu who carries Igbo along in his govt-Prophet Uzukwu

The General Overseer of Soul Revival Outreach, Nnewi, Anambra State, Prophet Iyke Uzukwu, on Sunday, said despite the shortcomings of President Bola Tinubu that his government had continued to carry Igbo along.

Prophet Uzukwu said President Tinubu deserved gratitude for playing the role, according to him, which late Chief Obafemi Owolowo had wanted to play, to touch the lives of the Igbo positively, and to save Ndi-Igbo from those who wanted to enslave them in Nigeria.

He said for the first time in the history of Nigeria an Igbo man was made the Minister of Works as occupied by the former Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr David Umehi, and other political appointments he said were given to the Igbo.

Prophet Uzukwu evaluated some administrations past in Nigeria and nostalgically discussed moments of glory which he said Nigerians would like to repeat itself.

“I want to use this opportunity to recall that in 1986/87 Nigeria was experiencing high inflation and the then government introduced importation without import licence and that made possible flooding the Nigerian markets with fairly used vehicles tagged “Belgium cars”, among other things. And the Nigerian masses could afford those cars as things were moving fine.

“In the 70s, 80s to 90s Nigeria had over ten functional cement factories owned by the federal and state governments which employed over seven million Nigerians in different parts of the country.

“Today, cement produced in Nigeria is the most expensive in the entire African continent because of monopoly in cement production in the country. I passionately appeal to Mr President to allow Chief Cletus Ibeto to continue his cement business in full swing. Other companies should also be allowed to participate and cement importation should be allowed. With this measure, there would be competition in that sector and price mechanism would set in to control demand and supply factors and that eventually will force down the price of cement in Nigeria.

“Ibeto cement alone can give employment to over two million Nigerians and his cement is one of the best in Africa. Why not liberalize this sector, Mr President so that many people can have houses of their own.
