Anambra First Lady hosts elderly, describes them as living treasures

Wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has described elderly persons in the state as living treasures and custodians of wisdom, culture, and values.


Speaking while hosting senior citizens from across the state at the Light House, Awka, to mark the 2026 World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, Mrs. Soludo emphasized the need to respect, protect, and celebrate older persons.


The event featured music, games, dancing, indigenous delicacies, and interactive sessions aimed at promoting companionship and happiness among the elderly.


According to her, society must ensure that older persons feel respected, included, and cherished for their contributions to the development of Anambra State.


She thanked the elderly for their sacrifices in shaping the state and reaffirmed her commitment to promoting their welfare and well-being.


World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, observed annually, highlights the rights, protection, and dignity of older persons worldwide.
