The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, psc, mnips, has intensified efforts to strengthen the state’s security architecture by deepening strategic partnerships with military veterans and forest security operatives.
The move is aimed at expanding the Command’s human intelligence (HUMINT) network and improving its capacity to detect threats, prevent crimes and respond proactively to emerging security challenges across the state.
CP Nnanna, according to the Anambra State Police Command Spodisclosed this on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, when he separately received delegations from the Nigeria Legion (Military Veterans) and the Nigeria Forest Security Services during courtesy visits to the Command Headquarters, Awka.
Receiving the Nigeria Legion delegation, the Commissioner acknowledged the wealth of experience, discipline and institutional knowledge acquired by military veterans during their years of service to the nation.
He said their familiarity with security matters and extensive community networks could provide valuable support to the Police in crime prevention, early detection of threats and promotion of public safety.
In a separate engagement with members of the Nigeria Forest Security Services, CP Nnanna stressed the importance of human intelligence in modern policing, particularly in detecting emerging threats, identifying criminal networks and providing early warning of activities capable of undermining public safety.
According to him, stakeholders operating within communities, forests and other difficult-to-access locations occupy strategic positions in the state’s intelligence architecture.
He noted that timely, credible and actionable information from such stakeholders could enhance police situational awareness, facilitate preventive action and enable the Command to respond swiftly to emerging security threats.
The Commissioner therefore urged both groups to maintain regular communication with the Police and promptly share credible intelligence, stressing that effective security requires responsible collaboration between communities, stakeholders and law-enforcement agencies within the ambit of the law.
CP Nnanna assured the delegations of the Command’s readiness to sustain lawful partnerships with professional bodies, veterans’ groups, communities and other legitimate security-support structures.
He said the strategy would broaden the Command’s intelligence base while strengthening its capacity for proactive policing.
The Commissioner reiterated that the Anambra State Police Command under his leadership remains committed to intelligence-led, proactive and community-oriented policing, adding that the Command would continue to explore every lawful avenue to prevent crime, disrupt criminal activities and protect lives and property across the state.
The visits featured exchange of pleasantries, presentation of plaques and group photographs, among other engagements.
