Nnewi industrialist D.C. Ofordeme pays emotional tribute as family, dignitaries bid farewell to beloved matriarch at 91

An Nnewi industrialist, Sir D.C. Ofordeme, on Friday, accompanied by his family, friends, and well-wishers, paid his last respects to his mother-in-law, Mama Veronica Uduifeoma Unachukwu, during her burial at Uruagu, Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Describing the late nonagenarian as an exceptional woman, Sir Ofordeme said her kindness, wisdom, unwavering faith, and love left an enduring impact on everyone who came in contact with her.

He recalled how she warmly welcomed him into the family and treated him with love, care, and respect throughout her lifetime.

“Mama d’ Mama, you were more than just my mother-in-law; you became a source of wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. 

“From the moment I became part of your family, you welcomed me with open arms and made me feel accepted and valued.

“Your kindness was genuine, your heart was generous, and your presence brought comfort to those around you.

“You lived a life marked by humility, grace, and selflessness. You always put the needs of others before your own and gave freely without expecting anything in return.

“Whether through your words of advice, your acts of service, or your quiet prayers for your family, you showed us what true love and sacrifice looked like,” he said.

The burial ceremony attracted prominent personalities from within and outside the Nnewi industrial community, as well as relatives, in-laws, friends, and well-wishers who gathered in large numbers to honour the memory of the late matriarch.

Tributes poured in as mourners celebrated Mama Veronica Uduifeoma Unachukwu’s exemplary life, her devotion to family, and her lasting legacy of compassion and faith.

Before her interment, a funeral Mass was held at St. Louis Catholic Church, Uruagu, Nnewi, where priests led a solemn service in honour of the deceased, who passed away at the age of 91.
