In a powerful demonstration of growing political realignment ahead of the 2027 elections, Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, on Saturday joined a massive endorsement rally in Ebonyi State, openly declaring his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and calling on Ndi Igbo to embrace what he described as an “alliance for progress and prosperity.”
Addressing a mammoth crowd in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, Soludo described his participation as a solidarity visit aimed at strengthening cooperation among progressive political forces across Nigeria.
Standing beside his host, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State, Soludo praised the governor’s leadership and reaffirmed his commitment to collaborative governance.
“I am here on a solidarity march with my own brother, the Rt. Hon. Governor of Ebonyi State, who, by the grace of God, is governor until 2031,” Soludo said to loud applause from the crowd.
The Anambra governor stressed the need for progressive-minded leaders and parties to close ranks in pursuit of national development and stability.
“I am here in solidarity with you because today, you are endorsing the President and Commander-in-Chief of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR,” he stated.
“I have come in solidarity because progressives are working together. It is time for progressives to unite.”
‘Progressives Must Unite’
While acknowledging the economic and social challenges facing the country, Soludo expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s reforms and leadership, arguing that the foundations for long-term national transformation are being laid.
He disclosed that the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) would soon meet to formally articulate its position, emphasizing the importance of building a broad-based progressive coalition capable of sustaining ongoing reforms.
According to him, the focus should be on consolidating the gains of the current administration and ensuring continuity in governance.
‘Enough of Politics of Lamentation’
In one of the most striking moments of his speech, Soludo delivered a passionate message to the Igbo people, urging them to abandon what he termed the “politics of lamentation” and embrace strategic political partnerships that would advance the region’s interests.
“I say to ụmụnne m ndị Igbo, enough of the politics of lamentations,” he declared.
“We must now move from the alliance of protest to the alliance for progress, an alliance and partnership for prosperity for Ndi Igbo. We must now unite as Ndi Igbo; we must not waste our votes again.”
A New Political Direction for the Southeast
Soludo’s remarks drew enthusiastic reactions from supporters at the rally and underscored what many observers see as an emerging political recalibration in the Southeast.
The event concluded with renewed pledges of support for President Tinubu’s administration and a collective commitment to what speakers described as a shared vision for a more prosperous and united Nigeria.
