Wife of Anambra State Governor and founder of the Healthy Living Initiative, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has urged residents to embrace safe food handling practices to protect their health and well-being.
In a message marking the 2026 World Food Safety Day, themed “From Burden to Solutions – Safe Food Everywhere,” Soludo said food safety remains a critical part of healthy living.
She warned that food, despite its nutritional value, can become harmful when not properly prepared, handled or stored.
According to her, ensuring food safety from production to consumption is a shared responsibility that helps prevent foodborne illnesses and promotes healthier families and communities.
“Your food can either be your medicine or your poison. Whatever goes into your body has the capability to heal or destroy you,” she said.
Soludo also called on households, food vendors and stakeholders in the food value chain to uphold food safety standards, reaffirming her commitment to promoting healthy living through sustained public health advocacy.
