Family members, church leaders, women groups and dignitaries have paid glowing tributes to Late Hon. Lady Peace Ifeoma Udeogu, popularly known as “Ogo Chukwu Mere Iyom Nnewi,” who was laid to rest in Umudim, Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The deceased, who died at the age of 68, was buried on May 7, 2026, while funeral activities continued on May 9 at her husband’s compound.
Speaking during the ceremony, her first son, Hon. Dr. Arinze Christian Udeogu, described his mother as a virtuous, humble and deeply spiritual woman devoted to God and humanity.
According to him, Late Hon. Lady Udeogu became actively involved in the Catholic Women Organisation (C.W.O), where she served in several leadership positions within the Onitsha Archdiocese and later the Nnewi Diocese.
“She dedicated her life to the service of God, the Church and humanity. Her legacy of faith, discipline and sacrifice will continue to inspire generations,” he said.
Another son, Engr. Chisom Ferdinand Udeogu, described her as caring, prayerful and selfless, adding that she taught her children discipline, integrity and love.
Born on October 18, 1958, the late community leader hailed from Umunocha, Awka-Etiti, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
She worked as a teacher at Uru Catholic Nursing School and held several leadership positions in church and community organisations, including President General of Nzuko-Ora Nnewi Women Wing and President General of Umudim Nnewi Women Wing.
Politically, she served as Secretary of APGA Ward I, Umudim, during the administration of former Governor Peter Obi.
Her contributions earned her several honours, including the C.W.O Star Lady Award and the title “Ogo Chukwu Mere Iyom Nnewi.”
Until her death, she was the Chief Executive Officer of Bread of Life Kitchen, Nnewi.
Family members disclosed that she passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026, and was buried the following day in line with her final wish.
The funeral ceremony featured Holy Mass, prayers, traditional rites and tributes celebrating her life of faith, leadership and service.
