Police launch probe into death of man in Nkpor, say suspected officers not attached to Anambra Command


The Anambra State Police Command has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr. Paul Onwualu in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.


According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, preliminary information available to the Command revealed that the officers allegedly involved in the arrest preceding the sudden health complication and eventual death of the deceased have been identified.


The Command, however, clarified that the officers are not operatives attached to the Anambra State Police Command.


The statement assured Ndi Anambra and members of the public that the matter was being treated with the seriousness it deserves in order to unravel the facts surrounding the unfortunate incident.


Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, urged residents to remain calm and allow the ongoing investigation to run its course, while reaffirming the Command’s commitment to transparency, professionalism, and protection of lives and property.


The Police Command further assured that updates on the investigation would be communicated to the public as developments unfold.
