Mr Aloysius Attah
The Governing Council of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has appointed Mr Aloysius Emeka Attah, Anambra State Correspondent of The Sun Newspaper, as Director of Information and Public Relations.
The Council also approved the appointment of other key officers during its 21st Emergency Meeting held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at the University’s Council Chambers.
The appointments followed what officials described as a rigorous, merit-based selection process.
Other appointees include: Prof. Jacintha Ukamaka Eze as University Librarian; Dr Jane Ezeonu as Director of Medical Services; Engr. Obinna Ibe as Director of Works Services; Mr Akuma Paschal I. as Director of Procurement; Engr. Lawrence Ezeokafor as Director of Physical Planning; and Mr. Collins Obi as Chief Safety Officer.
All appointments take immediate effect from April 17, 2026, and will run for a single five-year tenure.
Presenting the appointment letters, the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Monsur Olugbenga Kukoyi, charged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them through diligence, integrity, and dedicated service.
He urged them to uphold the university’s core values and serve as worthy ambassadors of the institution.
Kukoyi also commended the Visitor to the University, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, for their ongoing efforts to revitalise the education sector, enhance research, improve funding, and drive institutional advancement.
Speaking on behalf of the appointees, Attah expressed gratitude to the Governing Council, the Vice-Chancellor, and members of the selection panel for what he described as a transparent and merit-driven process devoid of sectional or ethnic bias.
He pledged that the new officers would not only meet but exceed expectations in repositioning the university as a globally respected centre of learning.
The appointment letters were signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Dr Chinenye Gloria Okeke.
The university noted that the appointments are expected to strengthen its administrative structure and enhance service delivery in line with its mandate and vision.
