900 property owners to receive N5.8bn compensation in Oyo

The Oyo State Government has approved N5.81 billion as compensation for over 900 property owners affected by the Ibadan Circular Road project.

The Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, disclosed this after an executive council meeting chaired by Governor Seyi Makinde. He said the payment would address concerns, reduce misinformation, and accelerate development in Ibadan.

According to him, more than N800 million had already been paid in earlier phases over the past 18 months.

The council also approved N710.38 million for transport subsidies between March and August 2026, benefiting commuters, including students, pensioners, and vulnerable groups.

In addition, the government approved an extra N3.98 billion for the Okaka Junction–Otu–Igbeti–Kishi road project and N126.9 million for the completion of the Oyo State Christian Wing multipurpose hall, initiated during the administration of Lam Adesina.

The state also plans to host the 2026 Oyo State International Tourism Summit to boost cultural and economic growth.
