The All Nations Arise and Manifest Initiative for the Less Privileged (ANAM Initiative), a humanitarian organization based in Anambra State, has been granted Special Consultative Status by the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The recognition allows the NGO to participate in UN meetings, submit policy recommendations, contribute written statements and collaborate with international development partners.
Founder and Executive Director, Unoma Tessy Aniesi, described the approval as a major milestone after a five-year application process that began in 2021 and was concluded on June 10, 2026, following a rigorous assessment by the UN Committee on NGOs.
She said the organization was overwhelmed with joy upon receiving the approval, describing it as a dream fulfilled.
According to Aniesi, the achievement reflects the dedication of the organization’s volunteers, donors, partners and supporters, while honouring the memories of OBC Alazor, Nekky Ekwenze and Pa Tony Emeka Ugbagu for their contributions.
She said the new status would enable ANAM Initiative to contribute more effectively to global development discussions while expanding its humanitarian impact.
The recognition is also seen as a significant boost for Anambra’s civil society sector, highlighting the growing global relevance of locally driven humanitarian initiatives.
