Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested three suspected criminals in separate operations across the state, recovering a locally made pistol, live ammunition, suspected hard drugs, and other incriminating items.

The Command’s Special Anti-Violent Crime Unit (VCRU), while on patrol along the Igbariam/Achalla Road on June 19, 2026, intercepted and arrested two suspects, Williams Ndifon and David Missang, both aged 27, who were riding a Daylong motorcycle.

A search conducted on the suspects led to the recovery of a locally made Beretta pistol, one live round of ammunition, six GSM phones, two power banks, a sledgehammer, a chisel/metal crack tool, quantities of substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, and a black polo shirt bearing the inscription “Nigeria Army Barracks Youths Foundation (NABYF).”

In a related development, VCRU operatives acting on intelligence later the same day arrested Oluchukwu Onyekwe, 21, at Agukwu Nri in Anaocha Local Government Area.

The suspect was allegedly found in possession of a significant quantity of dried weeds suspected to be Cannabis Sativa. Preliminary investigations also linked him to cult-related activities in the area.

Police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said all suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.

The Command urged residents to sustain their support by providing credible and timely information to aid ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and security across the state.
