Gubernatorial candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the November 8, 2025 election in Anambra State, Chief Dr George Moghalu, has sent a special message to Nigerian workers on the occasion of the 2025 Workers’ Day Celebration.
In a statement with the theme: “Celebrating the Strength of Our Workforce: A Workers’ Day Message from Chief Dr. George Moghalu,” delivered on Thursday, May 1, the LP candidate saluted Nigerian workers’ unwavering commitment, dedication, and sacrifices in the service of the country.
The statement, issued by Dr. Ikenna Agu, Media Adviser to Chief Dr. George Moghalu, reads in part: “Fellow compatriots, hardworking men and women of Nigeria, and the resilient workforce of Anambra State, on this auspicious occasion of Workers’ Day, May 1st, 2025, I, Chief Dr. George Moghalu, the Labour Party governorship candidate for the November 8, 2025 election in Anambra State, extend my heartfelt congratulations and solidarity to all Nigerian workers.
“Today, we pause to salute your unwavering commitment, dedication, and sacrifice in the service of our beloved nation and our dear state. The Workers’ Day celebration is not just a date on the calendar; it is a powerful symbol of the resilience, fortitude, and unwavering spirit of our workforce.
“Across every sector — public and private, formal and informal — Nigerian workers remain the lifeblood of our nation’s progress. You are the engine that powers our industries, the hands that till our fields, the minds that drive innovation, and the hearts that keep hope alive in our communities.
“In Anambra State, the story is no different. Our civil servants, artisans, traders, teachers, farmers, healthcare professionals, transport workers, and countless others contribute daily to building a state we can all be proud of. Your labour continues to enrich our economy and lay the foundations for a more just and prosperous future.
“As a Labour Party candidate, my vision is deeply rooted in the values that this day embodies — dignity in labour, equity, justice, and prosperity for all. The Labour Party was founded to protect the rights of workers and ensure that the fruits of their labour are not only recognized but fairly rewarded. I reaffirm my commitment to these ideals and assure you that under my watch, the welfare of workers will not only be prioritized but institutionalized.”
Dr. Moghalu pledged that if elected as governor of Anambra State, he would champion a government that listens to its workforce, engages meaningfully with labour unions, ensures timely payment of salaries and pensions, promotes workplace safety, provides opportunities for skill development, and builds an enabling environment for entrepreneurship and job creation.
“I envision a public service that is efficient, respected, and motivated — where merit is rewarded and where every worker feels a sense of pride in their contribution,” he said.
“To all Nigerian workers, especially those in Anambra State, I say, your labour is not in vain. Your sacrifices are not unnoticed. And your voices will be heard. Let us continue to work together to build a future where the dignity of labour is upheld, and every worker can dream, strive, and thrive.
“On this Workers’ Day, I celebrate you. I honour your strength. I applaud your courage. And I renew my commitment to stand with you, walk with you, and work for you.”
