Uruagu Nnewi election: I give BoT members 24hrs to resign, electoral process not acceptable-Nwonye

The former  President General of Uruagu community in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Ambassador Charles Nwonye has described the just held community election as a kangaroo one with illegality.

Chief Nwoye indicated irregularities in the election, blaming it on the Board of Trustees (BoT) of Uruagu Development Union whose Chairman he alleged failed to act appropriately.

Nwonye who spoke extensively to reporters said the past Presidents-General, including himself did excellently well in ensuring State government recognition of Uruagu Development Union (UDU).

He brought to the notice of the people of Uruagu home and in diaspora that in  the  last four years, the same irregularities existed which led to constitution amendment to correct someone issues.

Nwonye noted that it  was agreed that the then Executives should step down for new Executives to emerge.

He revealed that they agreed that the then constitution should be amended to set the record straight.

Nwonye alleged that the election that produced the present PG, Hon.Innocent Okoli, was full of irregularities. He added that for an election to be conducted that the existing executive whose tenure had expired must step down and ensure that they had rendered their account of stewardship before a fresh election is conducted.

He alleged that Chief Okoli’s leadership did not do that.

“The same irregularities have been in existence in Uruagu. Are we going to continue like that? I thought, we are known to be wise people? What image are we presenting?

“I am  very certain  that we have a set of people in Uruagu, who are bent on destroying our collective efforts. They don’t like good things. How can someone deceive others to get court order to conduct that kind of election full of irregularities? Something is definitely wrong,” he insisted.

Nwonye made it clear to all the delegates that it is not possible to turn illegality into legality.

“Anyone who supports the election supports evil in Uruagu community. I stand to condemn the election intoto.

“Throughout my four years as Uruagu PG, I  was humiliated, accused of things I didn’t do, just because they desired the seat.

“Today, those youths they used as tools are now against them because they have known the truth, “he also said.

Ambassador Nwonye disclosed that some of the  BoT members that messed up things have resigned to protect their dignity because of his warning.

He insisted that the just concluded election was conducted by the Executives themselves and not the BoT.

He thanked some of BoT women who protected their image by tendering resignation to appropriate authority.

Ambassador Nwonye gave the BoT members including the Chairman twenty four hours to resign or he would make his complaint go viral.

Nwoye insisted that the election beginning from the short notice before its conduct was unconstitutional, irregular, illegal, null and void and of no effect.
