South-East’s digital revolution: Pivot Africa targets 5,000 at Awka conference

From The Nijasun News Desk

The Pivot Africa has launched a fresh drive to accelerate digital and economic transformation in the South-East, with about 5,000 participants expected at its forthcoming Pivot Conference 4.0 in Awka, Anambra State.

The conference, scheduled for October 30 and 31 at the Stanel Dome, Awka, is themed “Digital Transformation, Shared Growth, and Prosperity for All.”

The organisers said the event is designed to help the South-East define and shape its own digital and economic future by connecting entrepreneurs, businesses, students, professionals and other stakeholders to technology, knowledge, opportunities and networks.

Speaking during an interactive session with journalists at Kodex Africa, Awka, on Thursday, Executive Director of The Pivot Africa, Ifedi Ralph Eze, said the conference would provide practical platforms for participants to leverage digital tools and emerging technologies to grow their businesses and careers.

Eze expressed concern that the South-East was lagging behind other geopolitical zones in digital awareness and adoption despite its reputation as a major commercial hub.

‘Technology must create shared opportunities’

According to him, the conference would seek to bridge digital gaps among traders, business owners, entrepreneurs, students and other stakeholders while providing tools and networks capable of transforming ideas into sustainable opportunities.

He said digital transformation could no longer be regarded as an issue reserved for technology companies, stressing that artificial intelligence, digital platforms, automation, fintech, e-commerce and digital marketing were already reshaping how people live and do business.

Eze said: “Across our communities, there are people building businesses, developing skills, creating solutions, leading organisations and solving problems. There are young people with enormous potential, women building remarkable enterprises, professionals creating value, and businesses looking for the right connections and opportunities to grow.

“But potential alone is not enough. People need access. They need knowledge. They need networks. They need platforms. And sometimes, they simply need someone to open the right door.”

Women, youths, entrepreneurs in focus

Eze said the conference would examine how technology could help entrepreneurs in the region expand their businesses, enable young people to acquire future-ready skills and give women greater access to markets, networks and opportunities.

He described the conference as one major expression of a wider ecosystem created by The Pivot throughout the year to connect people with knowledge, mentorship, business opportunities and meaningful relationships.

He listed some of the initiatives under the ecosystem as the Pivot Challenge Bootcamp, Women in Power and Legacy Circle.

According to him, the Pivot Challenge Bootcamp challenges participants to develop practical solutions while gaining exposure to entrepreneurship, technology and innovation.

He said Women in Power focuses on recognising, connecting and empowering women making an impact across different sectors, while the Legacy Circle provides a platform for conversations and initiatives around leadership, impact and building value that can outlive individuals.

Three access levels unveiled

Eze also announced three categories of passes for the conference.

He said the Starter Pass is free and designed for participants who want to attend the core programme and experience the Pivot ecosystem.

The Standard Pass, he said, costs ₦10,000, with a 15 per cent discount for group bookings of three to five persons, while the Elite Pass costs ₦50,000, also with a 15 per cent discount for group bookings of three to five persons.

He explained that the Standard and Elite passes would provide additional access to mentoring, resources, growth opportunities, networking and curated experiences.

“For full details about the different passes, conference programme, registration and the wider Pivot ecosystem, we encourage everyone to visit conference.thepivot.ng,” he said.

5,000 participants expected

Eze said the organisers wanted participants to experience more than speeches at the conference, promising opportunities for conversations, networking, mentoring, business connections, exhibitions and demonstrations.

The media interaction also brought together selected speakers and digital economy advocates who engaged in discussions on digitisation, business growth and community transformation in the South-East.

The discussions featured practical experiences and solutions on how business owners, community leaders and women in technology could use digital tools to expand their impact.

No fewer than 5,000 participants, including policy leaders, investors, entrepreneurs, educators, women in technology, grassroots innovators and students, are expected to converge on the Stanel Dome, Awka, for the two-day conference.
