The Chief Press Secretary to Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, Mr. Christian Aburime, has been honoured with the National Excellence Award in Strategic Communication and Public Service at the 10th National Leadership Integrity and Development Summit and Awards 2026.

The prestigious event, held at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja, was organised by the Center for Ethical Conduct Orientation and Empowerment (CECOE) in partnership with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria.

The summit, held to commemorate Nigeria’s 66th anniversary, focused on the theme: “Making Nigeria Work, Through Trusted Leadership, Working Institutions, Economic Growth, Sustainable Development and National Security.”

Aburime, who was represented at the ceremony by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Media Productions, Mr. Ejike Abana, dedicated the award to Governor Soludo and the people of Anambra State.

The event featured keynote addresses and panel discussions by prominent national figures on leadership, institutional development, economic growth and national transformation.

Opening the discussions, the Executive Director of CECOE, Dr. Owah David, examined what it would take to make Nigeria work, noting that the aspiration reflects the foundational passion behind the nation’s independence.

He stressed that national progress requires deliberate and sustained action rather than mere wishes.

The Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Rabiu Olowo, emphasised the need for strong institutions working alongside capable leadership, stressing that sustainable development must translate into measurable improvements in the lives of citizens.

He also called for transparency and accountability to become part of everyday national life rather than practices reserved for special occasions.

The Co-Chairman of the event and Chairman of the House Committee on Customs, Rt. Hon. Leke Abejide, spoke on “Making Nigeria Work: Leadership, Institutions and Citizens; Our Collective Responsibility.”

Abejide said national progress requires fundamental reforms and a positive shift in citizens’ attitudes.

He also commended reforms by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the redirection of resources towards productive sectors, noting that Nigeria was gradually moving towards greater manufacturing capacity and increased foreign direct investment.

The recognition of Aburime highlights his contributions to strategic communication and public service in Anambra State under the Soludo administration.
