Late Alphonsus Mweze
Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Mr Alphonsus Nweze, a veteran journalist and member of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Anambra State Council.
In a condolence message signed by his Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, the Governor described Mr Nweze’s death as tragic and painful, noting that the State has lost a dedicated professional who served with integrity and commitment to truth.
Mr Nweze, the Editor-in-Chief of Apexnews, an online platform died in a fatal road accident on Tuesday afternoon along the Onitsha–Asaba Expressway.
Governor Soludo said the late journalist would be remembered as a courageous and diligent reporter whose work contributed significantly to the growth of the information sector in the State.
“Alphonsus Nweze was more than a journalist; he was a voice for the truth and an advocate of responsible reporting. His untimely death is not only a loss to his family and colleagues but to our entire State. We will miss him,” Soludo said.
The Governor prayed for the repose of Mr Nweze’s soul and for divine comfort for his bereaved family, friends, colleagues and members of the Correspondents’ Chapel.
Meanwhile, the Correspondents’ Chapel of the NUJ, Anambra State, has also mourned the deceased, describing his death as a great loss to the journalism community in the State.
