Reactions trail 3rd anniversary of Anambra 8th Assembly

AWKA, June 13, 2026 – Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Value Reorientation, Dr. Law Mefor, has praised the cordial relationship between the executive, legislative, and judicial arms of government in the state, describing it as a model of good governance.


Speaking at the third anniversary celebration of the Anambra State House of Assembly in Awka, Mefor said Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo’s commitment to financial autonomy for the legislature and judiciary has strengthened their independence and effectiveness.


According to him, the governor’s timely release of statutory allocations has enabled the legislature to perform its duties without interference, leading to the passage of over 40 bills by the 8th Assembly.


Mefor highlighted the Local Government Administration Law and the Anambra Homeland Security Law 2025 as landmark legislations that have improved grassroots governance and enhanced security across the state.


He commended Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, for fostering bipartisan cooperation and prioritizing the state’s development above party interests.


Also speaking, former lawmaker and ex-Chairman of the House Committee on Information and State Orientation, Chief Ejiofor Egwuatu, said the 8th Assembly had lived up to expectations.


He particularly praised the state’s Real Estate Regulatory Law and Homeland Security Law, describing them as critical measures for sustainable development and public safety.


Egwuatu urged residents to continue supporting the state government and lawmakers to sustain progress and development in Anambra.
