The Anambra State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has charged 57 newly promoted officers to see their elevation as a call to greater responsibility, discipline and renewed commitment in the fight against drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking.
The charge was given during a colourful decoration ceremony held at the Command’s Operational Base in 33 Onitsha, Anambra State, where the officers were formally decorated with their new ranks.
The event, attended by principal officers of the Command, family members, friends and well-wishers, marked another milestone in the careers of the beneficiaries, whose promotions were in recognition of their dedication, professionalism, commitment and outstanding service to the Agency.
Addressing the officers, the State Commander, CN Onubogu Charles Orakwue, congratulated the newly promoted personnel, describing their elevation as a call to higher responsibility and a renewed obligation to advance the Agency’s mandate.
He urged them to justify the confidence reposed in them by the NDLEA leadership through hard work, integrity, professionalism and exemplary conduct in the discharge of their duties.
Orakwue noted that the promotion exercise reflects the unwavering commitment of the Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Brigadier General Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd) to staff welfare, motivation an to staff welfare, motivation and institutional reforms.
According to him, promotion exercises have become regular and timely since Marwa assumed office, significantly boosting the morale of officers and enhancing productivity across the Agency.
“The timely promotion of deserving officers is a clear demonstration of the Chairman’s commitment to rewarding excellence, professionalism, diligence and dedicated service, while strengthening the operational efficiency of the Agency in combating substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking nationwide,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the promoted officers, ACN Uche Agomoh expressed profound appreciation to the NDLEA Chairman and the Agency’s management for sustaining timely promotions and prioritising the welfare and career advancement of personnel.
He also thanked the State Commander for his exemplary leadership, mentorship and unwavering support.
Agomoh pledged that the promoted officers would reciprocate the confidence reposed in them by remaining steadfast, loyal, disciplined and committed to protecting society from the devastating effects of illicit drugs.
A total of 57 officers were decorated across various cadres. Four officers were promoted from Chief Superintendent of Narcotics (CSN) to Assistant Commander of Narcotics (ACN), while three officers moved from Superintendent of Narcotics (SN) to Chief Superintendent of Narcotics (CSN).
Twenty officers were elevated from Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I (ASN I) to Deputy Superintendent of Narcotics (DSN), while nineteen officers were promoted from Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics II (ASN II) to Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics I (ASN I).
Four officers were also promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Narcotics II (ASN II), while three officers each attained the ranks of Chief Narcotics Agent (CNA) and Senior Narcotics Agent (SNA). One officer was promoted to the rank of Narcotics Agent (NA).
